Kawallet is a mobile application which enables students in boarding schools to receive and send money without possession of a mobile phone. All a student needs to have is the Kawallet keyholder which has a unique QR code for accessing his/her account.
In case you lose your key holder, your account cannot be accessed by anyone without knowing your PIN and so your money will remain safe. On this note, always ensure to keep your PIN a secret from other people.
There will always be new key holders in school with our Kawallet agents. When you lose your Keyholder, you simply report to the agent, purchase a new one and then the agent will help you with the replacement process so that you can access your old account with this new key holder. So, the replacement will be done as soon as you report the issue.
When your parent is sending money to you via Kawallet application, they will incur the normal mobile money charges depending on their subscription company. As a student when you are using Kawallet to either withdraw, send money or make other transactions, you will incur only a small charge (much less than normal mobile money) on every transaction you make. You can check out our charges chart in the pricing section for more information.
Every account is protected on three levels, your unique QR code, your account number and your secret PIN. It is your responsibility as a student to always keep your PIN secret from anyone apart from you, so that even in the situation when you misplace your keyholder, nobody can access your account without the PIN. This will protect your account from fellow students and from Kawallet agents alike.
Kawallet being a mobile application, its important that for the parents to use it conveniently, they should have a smart phone. However, we also have Kawallet agents outside of schools (supermarkets, mobile money agents, etc.) who can assist your parents to send money directly to your account.
Yes, you can access your Kawallet account even when you are outside school and even use it to make other transactions. Kawallet has agents even outside of schools who can always help you access your money even outside of school.
Yes, you can use Kawallet as a savings plan in and out of school. As long as your money is on your account, it is perfectly safe and if you want to save it, that is also fine.
Yes, a student can send money to another student. When you take a look at the application, you will see an option for “STUDENT EXCHANGE”. Under this option, you can send money to another student as long as they also have a Kawallet account and you know their account number.
You can not invest if you did not save, children have to learn the benefits of saving money at an early age. It also helps them learn financial management at a young age.
With Kawallet students can not only send money to siblings in other schools but also be able use their key holders to make payments at canteens in other schools during school seminars/workshops.
Most of us have been advised on saving money either by our parents, friends, mentors and advisors etc. However, we as millennials and generation Z live through experiences. This can be seen through our love for music, fashion and thus prefer to design our budgets and savings so that we do not miss out on any experience. This causes us not to put as much importance to saving.
Imagine a world with only contact-less transactions, a dream world where all financial transactions are not conducted with money in the form of physical banknotes or coins, but rather through the transfer of digital information (an electronic representation of money) between the transacting parties.
The past decade has been a year of smartphone technology from becoming cheap to having advanced features such as upgraded RAM and internal memory. In fact, smartphones come with features like AI, triple camera setup, virtual reality, wireless scanning, and fingerprint.
